Get Answers to All of Your Questions
What are the fees for an initial consultation?
Your initial consultation is complimentary, regardless of how long it takes. From there we will let you know what it would cost if we decided that you were a good fit for our financial planning practice.
How long does that last?
On average, initial consultations take 60-90 minutes. These meetings can be conducted at our offices or over Zoom.
Do you make house calls?
All in-person meetings are conducted in our Arlington or Charlottesville offices. We also offer virtual meetings via Zoom.
What are your normal business hours for meetings?
Our normal business hours for meetings are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, exceptions can be made if needed.
Do you validate parking?
?Yes, as long as you park in the OneParking garage directly underneath our building. The entrance to the garage is on N Highland St. Tell the parking attendant you are here to see CWM and bring your parking card to your meeting where we can validate it for you.
How often can I meet with my advisor?
We conduct our review meetings on an annual basis and whenever changes in your life dictate.
How many new clients do you typically take on annually?
Our goal is to find 15-20 prospective clients each year who are a good fit for our practice and are seeking comprehensive financial planning services. We keep this to a minimum to ensure that we maintain our high level of service. We are looking for clients who are advisor-receptive and who take saving and achieving their financial goals seriously.
Do you have an investment minimum at your firm?
Our average client has about $1,000,000 invested with us, yet we are focused on working with clients who are interested in comprehensive planning. This does not mean that you need a sizeable amount of assets to work with us.
Do you act as fiduciaries in managing assets?
Yes - none of our advisors are commission-based and we all act as fiduciaries in providing financial planning and asset management services. This ensures that our interests are aligned with yours. In addition, all our advisors are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals or are in pursuit of their CFP certification.
What fees do you charge?
We are compensated in two ways. Should you hire us, we initially charge a consulting fee to bind our services and develop your financial plan. This process typically takes 6-8 weeks, and our fees range from $3,000 - $7,000, depending on the complexity of your financial situation. From there, we then charge an asset-based management fee as we act as fiduciaries for all clients. This ensures that our interests are aligned with yours as we are not compensated through commissions or commissionable products. Our asset management fee ranges from 0.50% - 1.25% per year, based on your situation and the amount of assets we are overseeing for you.
In addition to the annual management fee, PPS Custom Program clients may pay transaction charges, administrative charges, and miscellaneous account fees and charges, as described in the Master Services Agreement (MSA) or PPS Client Agreement (as applicable) and Commonwealth's ADV Part 2A Brochure.
Do you accept referrals?
Yes, we will always take time to meet with someone you refer to us.
